The selected candidate will aid a production team producing new AN/UPX-24(V) Interrogator Sets for SCN and FMS builds. Will be responsible for Processor Controller system integration, Control Monitor buildup and or verification of operability of integrated AN/UPX-24(V) systems operability onsite and at multiple lab locations. Testing may include troubleshooting, evaluation, repair, validation, installation, of assets with multiple systems and lab configurations.
The selected candidate will exercise independent judgment in performing such tasks as the planning, layout, production, test, troubleshooting, modification and repair of the AN/UPX-24(V) Identification Friend or Foe System. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices and may provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
Sets up and operates a wide variety of testing equipment, improvising hook-up and equipment modifications as necessary to test, adjust, align, calibrate and modify circuitry, components, systems or subsystems, ensuring consistency with applicable work instructions, quality control inspection procedures, and technical manuals. Work typically requires a detailed understanding of the interrelationships of circuits and requires the ability to read schematics and follow work instructions and test procedures.
Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. The selected candidate performs a variety of complex functional and operational tests on developmental electronic systems, subsystems and assemblies in accordance with generally established procedures and data sheets. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Candidate will travel >10% of the time to assist with testing events. Tasking will require extended hours and weekend work to support Environmental Stress Screening events.
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $27.89/hr.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in St. Mary's County, near to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High School diploma and at least 4 years of related experience
Active security clearance and ability to maintain
Radar and digital electronics experience
Experience with shipboard systems
Previous Quality Inspector experience
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Certified Solder Technician specializing in lead free, SMT and through hole
Cable fabrication certification
Military Electronics Technician "A" school
Navy Enlisted Classification 1571 (V06B) and 1572 (V07B)
Experience with shipboard systems
Knowledge of ISO, Lean Six Sigma, and/or best practices
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) – Maritime (OSHA 1915) training
