Responsible for all areas pertaining to review and analysis of the commercial loan portfolio, including annual review, file maintenance, internal auditing, department loan origination system (LOS) and staff development. Requires extensive knowledge of loan requirements for SBA and commercial lending with a demonstrated ability to perform research activities and loan portfolio analyses.
Essential Functions
- Lead and direct RCU’s business loan activities in the area of portfolio review.
- Oversee LOS system management, staff development, and maintenance, working closely with Application Specialist.
- Work with Coordinators, Loan Officers, and Analysts to ensure effective processes are in place to guarantee complete and accurate files for all commercial loans. Perform scheduled spot check audits to confirm completeness.
- Participate with management to facilitate internal and external audits.
- Serve as backup to SBA/Commercial Operations Manager to support production activities.
- Review and approve annual portfolio analyses, risk ratings, and credit actions.
- Assist in the management and administration of the Business Services Annual Review process.
- Review and perform required financial analysis to complete RCU credit memorandum for annual review and origination. Analysis includes cash flow determination, ratio calculations, and interpretation of data in consideration of RCU and SBA policies/guidelines.
- Perform analysis of all types of complex credits, while assisting portfolio review team members with questions.
- Consult with watch-list team members accordingly when loan quality deteriorates.
- Cross-train Analysts to be proficient in all areas of SBA/Commercial Operations and able to back up this position effectively.
- Recruit, select, train, motivate, coach, evaluate and develop reporting staff.
- Conduct regular staff and coaching meetings and performance evaluations.
- Analyze credit worthiness, including review of tax returns, financial statements, credit reports, business plans, and other relevant information.
- Structure credit memos to best meet the Credit Union’s risk and profitability requirements while maintaining a competitive position in the marketplace.
- Maintain a complete understanding of RCU credit policy and SBA eligibility requirements under the SBA 7(a) and 504 guaranteed loan programs, with ability to assist others with related questions and research independently for unknowns.
- Ensure compliance with pertinent government rules and regulations.
- Assist internal team members, Members, and outside service providers throughout annual review process.
- Prepare short and long-term goals, strategies, and objectives for business loan portfolio review.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures to gain and maintain optimal efficiency for the department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or closely related field, with a minimum of six years’ experience in SBA and/or business lending.
Salary starting range: $113,000 to $149,000 commensurate with experience.
