Caregiver to provide supportive care in the residential home of a 55+ year old adult female with intellectual disability (Down’s Syndrome). If you are a caring and compassionate individual with practical skills in managing day-to-day household routines such as grocery shopping, cooking healthy meals, overseeing, and ensuring adequate personal hygiene and grooming habits and/or providing transport to medical appointments and other activities, please be in touch! This client maintains her own independent routine but needs guidance and oversight from a caring professional to ensure her safety and well-being. Caregiving responsibilities are relatively “light-touch” and mostly home-based. This is an ideal position for a true “home-body” who enjoys spending time in the home. It is possible to combine this work with other paid work as long as it can be conducted remotely, at the residence.

This a contract position managed by the Arc of North Carolina, Triad Region.

Location:

Salisbury, NC

● Base pay set by Medicaid reimbursement based on 24-hour shifts which typically require 4-5 “active” hours and passive supervision in the remaining hours. Additional pay bonuses and differentials paid by the family.

Schedule:

● Variable, but must coordinate with multiple caregivers assigned to the home to ensure 24-hour coverage for the client, 7 days a week.

● You may indicate your preference for the number of days per week you wish to work and which specific days of the week in your application.

Job Responsibilities:

● Provide direct support to ensure client’s safety, health, and comfort.

● Manage client’s daily routine except during client’s normal working hours (M-F from 8 am- 3 pm)

● Prepare healthy meals.

● Assist with bathing and personal grooming.

● Manage client’s medications.

● Shop for groceries and other household supplies

● Coordinate with other caregivers working in the residence.

● Keep client’s family informed of client’s well-being and needs.

● Provide daily reports on person-centered plans and outcomes.

Position Requirements:

● At least 18 years of age

● Valid drivers’ license

● High School Diploma/GED

● Must complete required trainings for residential support.

● Prior experience working with Down’s Syndrome clients or people with intellectual disabilities.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $118.00 - $120.00 per day

Schedule:

• Evening shift
• Overnight shift
• Weekend availability
