Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
Under limited supervision, manages and coordinates research projects for the School of Medicine Greenville (SOMG). Collaborates closely with leadership within the SOMG Office of Research to ensure the execution of project plans, including establishing timelines and monitoring the achievement of milestones. Coordinates various research, evaluation, and needs analysis activities performed by the Office as well as manages the development of new programs and initiatives. Provides administrative support for the Office of Research. Demonstrates a commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in related field. Experience in research administration in an institution of Higher Education or hospital, general knowledge of federal grant regulations and procedures, and IRB procedures. Experience with university faculty/staff administration Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook Proficient with database creation and management Strong interpersonal communication skills Organization and ability to prioritize tasks Ability to work independently Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of research processes and research compliance. Knowledge of IRB processes. Knowledge of administrative and business management principles, practices and procedures Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to administrative/business activities of the organization. Ability to formulate and implement administrative policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively. Good organization and time management skills. Experience with research proposal development to internal and external agencies. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, students, and staff. Must be computer literate and able to use electronic research administration systems. Ability to work independently in a team environment, exercise sound judgement, be flexible and accountable, manage conflicting responsibilities, prioritize tasks and consistently meet deadlines. Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Excellent ability to read, write and speak English, and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, students, and staff. Must exercise a high level of confidentiality and professionalism, exhibiting an exemplary level of customer service. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
