Job Summary

The Research Instructor position in the laboratory of Dr. Akhil Vaidya in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology will have the skills to carry out biochemical/metabolomic studies on malaria parasites. Will continue generating several transgenic parasite lines that are highly useful for understanding metabolism in malaria parasites as well as to gain insights into mode of action for antimalarial drugs in development. Continue growing parasite cultures to isolate PfATP4 in its native state. A structure of PfATP4 can be expected to emerge from this collaborative study which will contribute to our efforts for structure-guided drug discovery efforts. Leadership role in assisting graduate students in the lab. Involvement in manuscript reviews for various journals and active participation in international scientific meetings on molecular parasitology.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Biological Sciences or related
• Minimum of 3 plus years of experience in a related field.
