The Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin is a joint medical faculty, which serves both Freie Universität Berlin and
Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. As one of the largest university hospitals in Europe with an important history, it
plays a leading role in research, teaching and clinical care. The Charité university hospital has also made a name
for itself as a modern business with certifications in the medical, clinical and management fields.

The ERC-funded research group of Prof. Dr. Anton Henssen studies the causes of childhood tumor formation and aims to identify new therapeutic strategies for children suffering from cancer.

We have an exciting opportunity for candidates to join our team as a Research Associate/Technician to work within a sponsored research agreement in close collaboration with a biotech startup. The research project is focused on identification of novel therapeutic targets for tumors containing extrachromosomal circular DNA (ecDNA). The position is limited for the duration of the project. Prior laboratory experience in molecular biology is required. Highly motivated, organized candidates with an interest to continue working in the industry are especially encouraged to apply.

Die Stelle im Überblick

Assisting the lab scientists in experiments using established protocols and procedures
Handling primary patient material and human cancer cell lines under S1 and S2 conditions (lentivirus production and transduction of cells)
Molecular analysis of cancer cells (flow cytometry, in vitro drug testing, cell viability assays, FISH, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, western blotting, (q)PCR, NGS)
Thorough documentation of the experimental work
Participating actively in developing, recommending and implementing new approved procedures, or modifications to existing protocols and procedures
General lab management and organization

Danach suchen wir

Completed BTA / CTA / MTA training with several years of experience or a Bachelor’s degree with core biology courses, or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
Prior experience working hands on in a molecular biology research lab is required
Strong tissue culture skills
Prior experience with the required molecular biology methods (see area of responsibility above) is a plus
Prior experience with CRISPR-Cas9 is a plus
Prior experience with lab management is a plus
Flexibility, team work and good communication
An ability to find solutions independently
Fluent written and spoken English is a prerequisite (working in an international team)
