This is a technical position within a Gene Therapy group in Brisbane to perform plasmid design and cloning in support of novel discovery programs. The candidate will be able to contribute to new technology development and concept generation. The ideal candidate will have a background in molecular cloning, DNA design/purification or other biomolecules (especially viral vectors) and some experience in an industry setting (especially CRO work).

Core Responsibilities:

• Support AVV manufacturing activities by designing, preparing various scales of DNA plasmids; conduct molecular cloning to achieve target clones
• Characterize DNA products using endonuclease digestion and DNA sequencing
• Conduct and troubleshoot experiments, independently and in collaboration with colleagues, to produce DNA constructs
• Collaborate with external CROs for gene synthesis, cloning and plasmid production
• Collect and evaluate data; prepare reports, summaries, and presentations; maintain and update laboratory notebook and the laboratory information management system
• Manage inventory of plasmids, supplies, ordering reagents and consumables
• Capability to multi-task, be independent, self-motivated, as well as work in a highly collaborative setting

• 
  Bachelor's degree in a science related discipline with 2-4 years as a scientist in a research, laboratory setting, or biotech/pharma company (CRO experience ideal).
• General understanding of virology, cell biology vectors, DNA design/purification/characterization
• Experience with advanced cloning techniques (Gateway cloning, Gibson Assembly and/or Type IIS Assembly
• Experience with molecular biology software platforms (SnapGene, VectorNTI, MacVector or similar)
• Excellent organization skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Salary of $72,000-78,000/annually

Position is full-time, Monday to Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Brisbane, CA are encouraged to apply.
