The Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Food Policy with a focus on Governance and Natural

Resources in the Institute of Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences of the Faculty of Natural Sciences III at the

Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg offers a vacancy for a

Research Associate (m-f-d)

Part time (50%).

The desired starting date is February 1, 2023. This is a household position intended for qualification purpo-

ses, which is initially limited to 3 years.

Tasks:

• Research in the field of agricultural production under resource use competition and societal claims

• Research in the field of governance of human-agri-environmental relations

• Research on local and global commons such as water, soil, biodiversity and climate in relation to

agricultural production

• Analyzing these issues from the perspective of institutional economics, behavioral economics,

property-rights theory, commons theory

• Participation in teaching BSc and MSc classes and supervision of students

• Support with research projects application and science management

• Help with administrative duties

Requirements:

• Master in Agricultural Sciences, Sustainability Sciences, Ecological Economics, Institutional

• Economics, or related fields

• Sound knowledge in agri-environmental policy, environmental governance, institutional analysis

• Experience in research or applied projects in related fields is desired

• Willingness to contribute to research projects of the department

• Willingness to work empirically

• Fluency in English and German

• High motivation and commitment

• Team player

• Interest in complex ecological and societal problems

Possibilities will be offered for further qualification (PhD) in a topic with socio-political relevance. We offer

the opportunity to work in a national and international research team that is embedded in the International

Association for the Study of the Commons and has close ties to the Ostrom Workshop in Bloomington USA.

Salary:

The salary is according to qualification and tasks up to E13 TV-L.
