Position Focus:
Qualifications: Ability to work with laboratory animals. Ability to work in cell culture. Ability to perform flow cytometry. Experience in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, CRISPR/Cas9 and RNAi technology, transfection, lentiviral transductions and western blot analyses. Ability to work in BSL2 environments following appropriate protocol. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and high level of coordination within the lab, department, and the institute. Highly motivated, strong professional ethics, and the ability to work with the PI, other team members, and collaborators. Detailed focus to ensure compliance with institutional guidelines for safe laboratory practices and proper biological and chemical waste disposal. Excellent organizational skills. Master's Degree in a scientific discipline and one year experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities: Responsible for carrying out and managing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory. Duties will include, but are not limited to, overseeing the smooth operation of the research laboratory. Recommends the design and implementation of procedures and protocols under the direction of a higher-level authority. The individual will work on and develop basic and translational lung cancer studies. Perform independent research and laboratory techniques and participates in experimental research planning. Investigates, analyzes, and reaches preliminary scientific conclusions related to research planning. Ensures data results are compiled, analyzed, and presented properly Analyzes, develops, and interprets scientific results.. Maintains clear documentation of results. Prepares scientific reports and papers for research proposals and published reports. Interacts with internal contacts including the PI, research assistants, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and animal care personnel to discuss and evaluate research results and to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the laboratory. Trains and supervises other members of the lab who may include postgraduate associates, clinical trainees and students as well as provide assistance where needed. Supports the lab’s research activities by supervising others and participating in performing a variety of procedures, including, but not limited to specialized cell and tissue cultures, protein/RNA extraction, transfection/lentiviral infections, the use of CRISPR/Cas9 and RNAi technology, western blot analysis, qRT-PCR, animal experiments and imaging, patient sample analysis, and maintenance of patient derived models. May perform other duties as assigned.
