Job Summary

The Harvard Injury Control Research Center at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is seeking a fulltime Research Assistant (RA) to work with HICRC staff on a variety of projects focused on accidents, interpersonal violence and suicide involving firearms.

Position Description

The RA will assist in the following areas:
  • Development and programming of surveys
  • Conducting literature searches
  • Assembling databases and conducting quantitative data analyses
  • Manuscript preparation
  • Coordinating meetings
  • Creating graphs, tables, and power-point presentations
  • Other duties as assigned
PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term appointment of December 31, 2024 with the possibility of extension.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a hybrid position and this position will be based in Boston, MA. Additional detail pertaining to this position will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, California (exempt staff only), Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington).

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered

Additional Qualifications and Skills

The following job-specific skills and competencies are preferred:
  • Experience with quantitative analysis and learning new software programs
  • Skills/experience using Stata or other statistical software
  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet and graphic presentation software skills
  • Experience with JMP and Qualtrics a plus
  • Experience conducting literature reviews
  • Experience writing or contributing to manuscripts
  • Interest in helping to understand firearm injury prevention
  • Experience managing project-related administrative duties
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Background in public health, psychology, or statistics
The following cultural competencies are also preferred:
  • Awareness of and aptitude to appropriately and effectively understand, respect, and adapt to cultural and identity-based difference within group environments
  • Knowledge of and commitment to concepts and issues tied to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion
