Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Rental Attendant oversees special events held at the District rental facilities including the Recreation Complex and The Woodlands, both in Wood Dale. Events are mainly evenings and weekends and may also include weekdays and holidays. The Rental Attendant is responsible for supervising all rental activities which includes: setting up before and tearing down after each event, providing onsite equipment maintenance and cleaning of the facility, providing exemplary customer service for each user and ensuring the safety and health of all participants throughout each event.

This position is primarily evenings and weekends averaging 4-6 hours per shift.

$14.00 per hour for Recreation Complex Rentals

$15.00 per hour for Woodlands at White Oaks Park Rentals

***Some functions require the attendant to be 21 years of age if alcohol is being served***

Job Functions

  • Gain knowledge and understanding of Park District policies and procedures and see that they are adhered to at all times.
  • Adhere to scheduled hours.
  • Comply with the Districts Dress Code by coming to work in clean, presentable clothing and wearing an employee name tag.
  • Communicate with Recreation Supervisor upon arrival.
  • Unlock and lock any doors that will be used during rentals.
  • Check the set-up has been done correctly and review all room details and special arrangements to see that they are taken care of.
  • Check the gym conditions to ensure it is safe to play in.
  • Provide sports equipment or additional amenities, when necessary.
  • Prepares room/facility for event use which includes but is not limited to performing set ups and take downs, completing required cleanings and ensuring building is opened and closed before and after the event
  • Set up and break down duties may include lowering the basketball hoops, making sure court is ready and safe for play, picking up all garbage from bleachers, bathrooms and floors.
  • Move chairs, tables and other equipment as necessary.
  • Promptly greet guests in a pleasant, friendly manner and communicate with the renter throughout the duration of the event.
  • Continuously check in on rental.
  • Help maintain building cleanliness during and after events including filling paper towels, toilet-paper dispensers, monitoring garbage cans and replacing bags, and sweeping floors, as necessary.
  • Ensure that the renter and guests are following the facility usage stipulations. Make sure all guests have exited the building by close of event.
  • Document rental times and any issues on Rental Checklist. Communicate emergencies to the Recreation Supervisor immediately.
  • Administer First Aid when necessary.
  • Upon leaving, ensure gym is clean, equipment is put away and lights are turned off.
  • Secure all doors and sets alarm before leaving facility.
  • Follow district and departmental safety, personnel, and administrative policies, procedures, and ordinances.
  • Communicate any accidents, safety concerns, maintenance issues, parent complaints, etc. directly to Recreation Supervisor.
  • Demonstrate and support park district customer service standards.
  • Assist the Recreation Supervisor in evaluating rentals when asked.
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor.
  • 21 years of age or older for events that include alcohol
  • 18 years of age for non-alcohol events
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one-year customer service or event hosting experience.
  • Requires flexibility of work schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be certified or willing to attain certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Bilingual a plus but not required
