Major Duties and Responsibilities:


We are seeking IT Apprentices who are eager to develop their skills in Cybersecurity! We have positions available on our Security & Recovery Operations team, and our Identity and Access Management (IDAM) team! These positions are FULL-TIME TEMPORARY working 40 hours per week (with benefits including: medical insurance, Union Benefits Trust (dental, vision, and life insurance), holidays, and vacation, sick, and personal leave). The selected candidate can hold this position for up to 2 years (no contract).


This position is perfect for those who may not have completed a college degree or who wish to change their career path. This apprenticeship program will pair you up with experienced managers and employees who are subject matter experts in Cybersecurity (ODJFS is fully compliant with current regulations for system development standards, operating procedures, system security, programming controls, communication controls, backup and disaster recovery, and system maintenance).


As a Security & Recovery Operations Apprentice you will:

  • Conduct security reviews

  • Complete recovery processes using RPX enterprise system

  • Perform Veracode scans

  • Maintain logs, records, and files

  • Serve as backup to & assist current staff

  • Complete special projects, attend trainings, and perform other duties as assigned


As an Identity & Access Management (IDAM) Apprentice you will:

  • Provision / Deprovision RACF IDs (Mainframe)

  • Assist users with DUO Enrollment/ Re-enrollment

  • Troubleshoot user VPN issues

  • Maintain/update user info through provisioning tools

  • Assist users with correct security, distribution, & Shared resource Groups (MIM - Microsoft Identity Manager)

  • Adding / Removing Proxies (MIM - Microsoft Identity Manager)

  • Adding / Removing Roles through Ohio Job Insurance (OJI)

  • Assist with updating the Worker Tracker System (WTS)

  • Provide exceptional customer support for our users

  • Serve as backup to & assist current staff

  • Assist with providing BULKUP load coverage for county users (LISTSERV)

  • Assist with testing for agency projects (e.g., Advancement through Resources, Information and Employment Services (ARIES), Multi-factor authentication (MFA))

  • Communicate effectively with internal & external stakeholders

  • Assist with process improvement efforts

  • Maintains logs, records, and files

  • Complete special projects, attend trainings, and perform other duties as assigned


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools

  • Experience or knowledge of IT Security Tools

  • Experience with testing/development of IT applications


Qualifications


The following are the minimum qualifications for this position. For further consideration, applicants must clearly identify how qualifications are met within the education and/or experience sections of the application.

The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:

Option 1:

  • 1 course in Information Systems/Information Technology, or a related field including but not limited to: Software Engineering/Development, Data Analytics/Business Intelligence, Database Administration, Network, IT Security and Help Desk/Customer Support

Option 2:

  • 2 months experience in Information Systems/Information Technology, or a related field including but not limited to: Software Engineering/Development, Data Analytics/Business Intelligence, Database Administration, Network, IT Security and Help Desk/Customer Support

Option 3:

  • The equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Major Worker Characteristics:

Knowledge of:

  • Computer science or computer information systems (e.g., applications development, programming, security, networking, desktop support, database design, systems analysis, web development); agency IT policies & procedures*; safety practices; mathematic principles relative to assigned area.

Skill in:

  • Hardware/software installation.

Ability to:

  • Carry out instructions in written, oral or picture form; use technical writing for systems documentation; understand manuals & verbal instructions, technical in nature; stay abreast of current technology; work in a team environment; use analytical skills to troubleshoot issues.

Unless required by legislation or union contract, staring salary will be the minimum salary of the pay range (step 1, currently $21.38 per hour) associated with this position.
