Job description
As the Registration Coordinator (Remote), you are responsible for verifying mental health benefits, authorizations, and registration. You will utilize practice management system to enter insurance and patient demographic data as well as run reports to identify and correct errors. This position requires collaboration with various staff, insurance companies, and patients to resolve insurance issues via the telephone.
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Eastern Standard Time.
The Responsibilities:
- Utilize phone system, practice management system, and/or insurance website portals to verify patients’ insurance benefit details
- Obtains authorizations for outpatient mental health visits when needed
- Verifies eligibility & benefits for patient using the practice management system, payer portal, or contact patient as necessary
- Reference credentialing spreadsheets and insurance matrix to verify provider participation
- Escalate any discrepancies on the credentialing spreadsheet or insurance matrix to supervisor for resolution
- Coordinates with Front Office staff, Billing staff, Intake staff, and patient to resolve insurance issues and corrects registration errors within the practice management system
- Verifying eligibility and benefits for existing patients when their insurance plan changes, including provider or location transfers
- Contacts patients and payers to address any insurance and/or demographic issues
- Ability to problem solve and prioritize work in a fast-paced changing environment
The Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
- 1 year insurance verification or general healthcare experience with a strong understanding of verification and benefits required
- Call center experience desired
- Excellent data entry/typing skills
- Excellent customer service skills with previous customer service experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
