The LaSalle School is seeking a Registered Nurse (Full-Time, 35/hours per week, non-exempt, hourly). This position will report to the Director of Nursing Services.

Our ideal candidate is energetic; perform multiple tasks simultaneously and possess the ability to access rapidly and triage an assessment indicates; act in a professional manner at all times; must be flexible in scheduling; employs Trauma Informed Practices and crisis management skills. Training will be provided by the agency for TCI training as well as CPR certification.

Position Overview:

The staff nurse is responsible for the overview of the health care needs of all students of LaSalle. Decisions and responsibility for the care of the students are met as needed, in the best judgement of the RN on duty and in consultation with other ancillary providers, internal and external on an ongoing basis.

Job Responsibilities (only illustrative and not all inclusive):

  • Providing nursing care to male adolescents in a residential setting.
  • Providing immediate first aid and triage and refer as needed for appropriate treatment.
  • Demonstrates ability to delegate assignments to other team members.
  • To administer immunizations as per La Salle protocol and in accordance with N.Y.S. Health Laws.
  • Acts as community liaison with outside medical providers and advocate for timely delivery of health care.
  • Assist other agency team members in providing medical, emotional, and psychological support to students in various stages of crisis.
  • To administer all medications and perform all treatments ordered by MD in a timely and diligent manner.
  • To document on appropriate records all pertinent information.
  • To assess students and use professional nursing judgment in the treatment of students and refer appropriately as needed.
  • To prepare required medical reports and other documents related to the health care of the students.
  • To attend staff meetings, care conferences, and professional development, as assigned.
  • To communicate pertinent medical information to members of the nursing team to ensure continuity of care.
  • Develop and deliver health and medical education to youth, families and staff as indicated/ assigned.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility in scheduling in the event of emergencies, or in times of increased workload which may include coverage of alternate shifts.
  • To oversee work of designated Health Office staff.
  • To be able to work in conjunction with other disciplines to contribute to the overall care of the students at LaSalle, demonstrating support of the agency’s mission and LaSallian philosophy.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience & Education):

Required Education:

  • Hold a valid NYS Registered Nurse (RN) License

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with assessing and treating youth with complex mental health, educational, and behavioral needs.
  • Associate’s, Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree and a valid NYS Registered Nurse (RN) License

TRAINING (LaSalle Covers Costs or Reimburses Costs)

  • Completion of agency mandatory training components (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training, First Aide/AED/CPR, Boundary Training and others) as well as other OCFS requirements during first six months of hire.

Hours & Schedule of the Position:

  • FT Position Candidates: 35hrs per week, schedule could include Monday through Friday + weekends (Days and Evening Shifts)
  • Staff are able to coordinate/plan time off accordingly as the schedule is being developed.

Salary based upon experience

Paid Time Off:

  • For FT Position Candidates: Start at 10 days off for vacation, 13 paid holidays a year, 3 personal days, 12 sick days per year and other leave time available dependent on the circumstances.
