Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides general medical services to program participants under the guidance of the Program Director. This role is tasked with completing nursing assessments, creating individual treatment plans, and providing care using established best-practice methods. Essential Job Functions include those listed below.
Essential Job Functions:
- Screens populations from various age groups in order to determine behavioral health needs;
- Completes and records initial and subsequent nursing assessment of each patients physical and mental status according to program protocols using interview, observation skills, and physical assessment techniques and communicates findings verbally and/or via written documentation;
- Provides structure, and maintains a therapeutic environment in collaboration with program participants and other members of the team;
- Intervenes during emergencies using, evidence-based practice strategies;
- Assists in developing positive relationships that support program participants in meeting their personal goals;
- Offers coaching on medication management;
- Administers medications and evaluates therapies and care provided to individuals served;
- Participates in collaborative care team meetings;
- Acts as a collaborative team member within the program, leading and addressing comprehensive health promotion and behavioral health maintenance needs;
- Facilitates preventative and restorative health and well-being education in individual, group and community settings;
- Assists the Regional Director of Accreditation in gaining and/or obtaining facility accreditation with CARF, JC, and other bodies;
- Assists other WestCare staff as needed to promote cooperation and portray a professional image to the community;
- Embraces and embodies the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation;
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
Certifications/Licensures:
- RN licensure is required; preference will be given to candidates with additional certification and/or licensure;
- Valid drivers license and the ability to obtain and maintain WestCares vehicle insurance is required.
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited two-year or four-year nursing program is required; position is required;
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience and Competencies:
- At least five (5) years experience working with clients/patients in a substance abuse, counseling, medical, or mental health setting required;
- Ability to work with others in a manner that is pleasant and professional required;
- Ability to work well, both individually and as part of a team required;
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion required;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required;
Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily performed in an indoor setting within a treatment facility;
- Occasional outdoor work and travel between multiple locations may be required;
- Regular and prompt attendance is required throughout employment;
