SUMMARY: The primary role of the Recreational Therapist is to evaluate, plan and execute appropriate, patient centered groups and activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, plan and implement activities suitable for residents.
• Assist in the development of individual resident therapeutic goals and objectives.
• Assist with community trips and special events.
• Provide education to residents designed to help skills and knowledge for independence and social involvement.
• Review resident goals and progress notes.
• Properly document MDS reports and progress notes.
• Attend care plan meetings, QAPI, and department head meetings as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist preferred
• Completion of an approved Recreation Therapy program
• Long Term Care Experience preferred
• 2 years minimum of experience in a social or recreational program.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
