Position: Receptionist

Location: Waynesville, NC

Shift: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm

Pay: $17.49/hour

SUMMARY - PRIMARY FUNCTION

  • Performs receptionist duties of greeting company visitors in a professional and friendly manner operating central phone and paging systems to channel all incoming calls to appropriate persons.
  • Provides administrative support for Executive and Management teams.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Has extensive contact with company visitors, customers, and staff, both by phone and in person. Nature of contact involves the exchange of information and requires considerable tact, courtesy, and business etiquette to both internal and external customers.
  • Works independently and within a team on special non-recurring and ongoing projects.
  • Pages, locates, and provides such information needed to complete phone contacts. Keep mailboxes up to date.
  • Manage company supplied uniform program being the plant contact to the supplier
  • Manage company issued employees’ personal and uniform lockers
  • Manage and keep up to date the bulletin boards and or TV monitors in the breakroom
  • Serves as Canteen’s interface. Makes sure all machines are being maintained and restocked accordingly.
  • Receives and distributes mail, small packages received in front office (FedEx, UPS, etc.). Makes sure packing slip is signed and gives them to Purchasing Assistant.
  • Schedule yearly biometric screenings, hearing tests and safety shoe truck events
  • Manage employee badges
  • Continually updates and maintains Certificates of Insurance from adding, deleting and acquiring new certificates as needed from each vendor or their insurance carrier.
  • Contacts some repair services as needed or requested.
  • Coordinates catering/luncheons arrangements. Orders floral arrangements/gifts for associates as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of office and kitchen supplies by checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.

This position is in our Plastics plant in beautiful Waynesville, North Carolina. We are producing plastic thermoformed trays.

  • We expect you to be Sonoco mission driven
  • You have to have a “get it done” attitude and an urgency to resolve problems/tasks.
  • To succeed in this role you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is needed.
  • Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality focused is a must.
  • You will need to be able to lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.
