• Determines daily route using digital or printed cadastral, orthophoto and road maps
• Drives to property locations, getting in and out of vehicle. Physically walk around and examine all buildings to determine required property characteristics on various residential properties
• Accurately and legibly collect and record property characteristic data on appropriate paper field card, transliteration sheet and/or digital device
• Review and verify measurements and sketch of residential structures, additions and any other improvements or structures on the property, inspecting the exterior of the buildings, and verifying interior information. Review and notate physical land characteristics. Distinguish between real estate, real property, and personal property, etc.
• Take clear digital images of properties and all structures using accepted procedures
• Communicate effectively with the public to share purpose of the visit to their property, inquiries about the interior of the property and addresses general questions
• Maintain and provide personal production records and reports for submission to the project supervisor and performs related clerical functions as needed

Graduation from an accredited two-year college or technical school with a degree in accounting, business, economics, public administration, or related field and one (1) year of experience in real estate or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Management Preference

Knowledge of Real Estate and/or residential construction is preferred

• Knowledge of the organization and function of County government, particularly the functions and procedures of the Tax Department
• Knowledge of building materials and construction
• Skilled in organization and good knowledge of basic arithmetic
• Ability to read and interpret land descriptions, tax maps, subdivision plats, etc. and to accurately use measurement devices necessitated by work assignments
• Ability to accurately measure and sketch structures and to record figures accurately and legibly
• Ability to conduct effective inspections
• Ability to use computers, calculators, fax machines, cameras and other equipment utilized in property inspection and recordkeeping
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms to interpret and explain policies, procedures and reports and to deal with the public courteously and tactfully
• Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative, and professional working relationships
