DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Lease Administrator is responsible for monitoring the operations of select campus-owned buildings. The Lease Administrator is also responsible for marketing, leasing and managing gift properties; and managing a portfolio of campus agricultural properties under share-crop agreements.


JOB SUMMARY

Under the general consultative direction of the Executive Director and Director of Real Estate Services, the Lease Administrator will negotiate primary terms and conditions of agreements, prepare related transactional documents, monitor compliance with financial and business terms of agreements, administer/implement a wide variety of documents over the life of the contract and recommend courses of action for dispute resolution to senior leadership in Real Estate Services.

The Lease Administrator will provide counsel to campus and health system staff to support adherence to University policies for real estate transactions and contracts and maintain consistent communication with the University of California Office of the President’s (UCOP) Real Estate Services Group (RESG) to monitor changes in policy. The Lease Administrator will participate in regularly scheduled informational forums and training opportunities on public real estate practice, including the annual conference of the Association of Real Estate Officials (AUREO), to develop process improvements, enhance efficiency and increase knowledge of industry best practices. The Lease Administrator will assist the Executive Director and Director in identifying training opportunities for the other analysts in Real Estate Services.

This position manages the campus site license program which can include cellular facility licenses with third party cell service providers, and research use agreements on behalf of university staff who are conducting research at remote locations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Minimum of five years of experience in contracts, real estate and/or legal related documentation.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in real estate, business, economics, or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • Experience in preparing and negotiating commercial leases; performing due diligence; analyzing contingencies, options and deal structures; knowledge of lease accounting principles.
  • Experience in property management and conflict resolution involving landlords-tenants.

Preferred:

Additional Preferred License/Certification

  • Notary Public certification
  • Paralegal certification
  • California Real Estate License (Sales Person or Broker)

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Experience in public real estate transactions
