Department
Building Services is committed to enhancing and maintaining all academic, administrative, and other buildings assigned to provide clean, safe, and sanitary conditions.
In addition, Special Projects provides an all-inclusive relocation and carpet cleaning program. Relocation strives to provide professional in-house moves and special event setups of tables and chairs, as well as, box order for all E&G funded buildings throughout campus. Building Services charge a small fee for all special events and box orders.
We strive to provide the most efficient, versatile, timely, and economic Custodial Service program possible. Coordination of all professional services is provided with University deans, directors, and department heads.
We establish priorities with the institution and specific standards, either detailed or generalized, for maximum flexibility.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for monitoring the quality of cleaning services provided by Building Services and assists in establishing plans and standards. Additional responsibilities include:
- Performs regular field surveys of campus building conditions and determines if services provided meet established quality standards. Communicates with consultants, department heads, and building liaison representatives to ensure that cleaning services are being performed at an acceptable level.
- Assists in developing and recommending policies and procedures to effectively administer the University's Building Improvement/Quality Control Program. Communicates with various levels of campus personnel regarding departmental needs related to the Program. Maintains contact with appropriate agencies regarding OSHA requirements.
- Conducts instructional sessions with supervisory staff and other staff members to communicate standards and methods related to cleaning services.
- Reviews reports, studies, specifications, and surveys in order to make recommendations related to program improvements, project assignments, inspections results, and employee performance to the Assistant Director. Performs other duties as assigned within the department. Operates University vehicles as needed to complete assigned work.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field; or a high school diploma and two years of experience related to the duties of this position.
(Note: or a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to six years in the same.)
- Skill in estimating the costs of materials and equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively train and direct the work of others.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
- Knowledge of and ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
- Knowledge of processes, procedures, and methods used in facilities operations.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality, business administration or at least 4 years industry knowledge of quality control standards and housekeeping/custodial testing methodologies.
- Experience working in a higher education institution.
- Experience conducting audits and inspections, creating reports of findings, and providing solutions for corrections

Anticipated Salary Range
