Quality Assurance Test Engineer NAR
- GRO001096 - HybridRole Summary:
Prepare and perform vehicle hardware and software updates needed for functional testing. Coordinates with Quality Assurance Sr. Engineer to test and communicate identified concerns into ticket management system and to stakeholders for solution development. Upon solution implementation, verify the corrective actions were successful. Support Quality Assurance Sr. Engineer with final release documentation/distribution.
Technical Coordination and Analysis (90%):
- Create and execute on-vehicle test plans for project hardware and software updates.
- Plan and prepare vehicles for hardware and software updates, working closely with vehicle custodians.
- Identify new concerns, as well as verifying corrective actions.
- Coordinate and align identified concerns through various ticket management systems and with various stakeholder teams.
- Inform management teams of findings and status per concern on an as-needed basis, as well as supporting the final release recommendation associated with the update.
- Support project drives related to area of focus.
- Performs self-responsible analysis activities of technical issues upon request either individually or in a team together with co-workers from other areas within VWGoA or Regional teams(i.e. factories, engineering, IT). Analysis must include/yield the following for all investigations:
- Detailed understanding of problem/tasks and determine if problems are already known within VW organization (i.e. other markets/models)
- Identify/determine appropriate approaches, required resources, and involved areas of VW organization
- Conduct pre-analysis, reproduce problems, and identify root cause and conditions that lead to problem/issues
- Develop/validate countermeasures together with involved areas (i.e. factories, R&D) as appropriate
- Document all findings in a ticket management systems and a report, perform lessons learned analysis, and develop continuous improvement processes for future analysis
- Role will be expected to provide forward thinking to the Sr. Quality Analysis Engineer and solidify oneself as someone that provides high business value, flexibility, and usability for all business areas.
- Provides professional support within area of expertise to departments within VWoA, transfers knowledge to local co-workers and supports network building to areas outside VWGoA.
- Role expected to consider in-brand KPIs such as Warranty, Regulatory/Compliance, and various market studies (JDP, Consumers report, etc.) in decision-making process and ticket prioritization.
Knowledge Transfer / Exchange of Information (10%):
- Acquires necessary information related to specific field issues through analysis of Quality IT systems, existing networks to VWAG (GQ, TE), factories, and other appropriate sources. Takes responsibility to develop and extend information channels.
- 2 - 4 years’ experience in automotive vehicle and/or component validation and analysis
- Associates’ Degree or related work experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or related work experience
- Basic Knowledge about VW cars in general, with technical experience similar to working in dealer service facility
- Understanding of traditional automotive industry development and release cycle planning
- General understanding of in-vehicle electrical architecture
- Previous R&D or Quality Analysis Experience
- Self-driven individual

- System knowledge: JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of Volkswagen backend systems in vehicle

- Flexibility required for travel on short notice (24 hrs. or less), occasionally on weekends
- Travel required inside and outside of the US (Ports, Dealers, VW Factories, Suppliers)
- Moderate availability and reachability
