Job Description-Quality Tech Assigned to the Chem Lab or Final Audit
Tech Assigned to the Chem Lab- Sand Starting Time: 6 a.m.
1) PPE- Safety style glasses, ear plugs while in the foundry, steel toed shoes, gloves as needed. Report any unsafe actions or conditions to your supervisor.
3) Brinell test bars as instructed.
4) Test incoming raw sand samples and premix samples as instructed.
5) Test production core mixed sand for physical properties as instructed. Provide test results to the Core Room supervisor on a timely basis.
6) Weigh incoming scrap deliveries both inbound and outbound. Complete paperwork as instructed.
7) Perform periodic equipment calibrations as instructed.
8) Grind and polish micros as needed.
9) Maintain written records in the file cabinet provided.
10) Communicate any ideas you may have to make Casting Solutions a better place to work.
11) Keep your area clean and organized.
Tech Assigned to the Chem Lab- Chemistry Starting Time: 3:45 a.m.
1) PPE- Safety style glasses, ear plugs while in the foundry, steel toed shoes, gloves as needed. Report any unsafe actions or conditions to your supervisor.
2) Verify the calibration of the spectrometer daily. Burn known samples periodically throughout the day to verify calibration. Test chemistry samples provided by the Air Set line, Disa and cupola departments. Enter all results into the foundry computer system as instructed. Contact the affected department if any results are out of specification. Use two-way radio as needed.
3) Perform routine green sand tests. Enter the results of each test into the foundry computer system. Report any out of range results as needed. To achieve repeatable results in sand testing, a routine must be developed to do each test in the same manner.
4) Mix solutions as needed for lab testing.
5) Maintain the spectrometer filters and spark stand as instructed.
7) Keep lab area clean and organized.
Tech Assigned to Final Audit Starting time: 7 a.m.
1) PPE- Safety style glasses, ear plugs, gloves and steel toed shoes.
2) This position required attention to detail.
3) Inspect each pallet/ tote/basket of finished castings for all specified operations included on the Processing Standard. If all castings inspected meet the criteria specified, approve the lot for shipment. If one or more castings do not meet the criteria, the lot is to be rejected for rework. Either result requires a tag that is to be filled out. Any rejection will require your contact with the UE supervisor.
4) If approved, complete the Final Audit log sheet for each lot inspected.
5) For approved lots, print and apply a bar coded label.
6) Brinell hardness castings as instructed.
7) Check and record all scrap by P/N, heat date, shift and defect.
8) On a daily basis witness and document the hydrotest of a boiler on each test bench in service. This will include P/N, heat date, test bench # and the actual test pressure shown on each pressure gauge and the expiration date of the calibration on each pressure gauge. Documentation is on a specific log sheet for that purpose.
9) For test benches requiring recalibration certification, do so prior to the expiration of the certification. Use the appropriate Master Gauge for this purpose. Record the recertification in the logbook for that purpose.
10) Brinell hardness check casting as required.
11) Keep your work area clean and orderly.
12) Advise supervisor as to supplies needed and any problems you encounter. Communicate any ideas you may have to make Casting Solutions better place to work.
