Part-time, 20/hr week

Schedule: Friday's & Saturday's
Shift: 10am - 6:30pm
Position Summary:
Assist in maintaining an operational kitchen, within a kitchen team, cooking meals for 50 plus clients and guests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Portion and prepare meals in accordance with Emily Program guidelines
  • Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and dishes.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of the position.
  • Utilize knowledge of kitchen environment, including FIFO, to receive food order shipments and manage stock
  • Ability to Follow a recipe and employ basic baking skills
  • Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, combi-oven, mixers, slicer, food processer, and/or griddles.
  • Work in a manner compliant to employee safety using personal protective equipment when required.
  • Package batches of food for caterings which are prepared to order and kept warm until served or transported.
  • Cook the exact number of items ordered, working on several different orders simultaneously and being conscious of food waste.
  • Batch cook items for multiple sites and allergies in an efficient and food safe manner.
  • Prepare specialty meals such as gluten free, lactose free, vegetarian, vegan and for anaphylactic allergy cases.
  • Serve orders to clients, staff and/or guests and interact in a mental health environment with daily client contact.
  • Facilitate daily cleaning and maintenance of kitchen
  • Ability to provide back up support to manager as needed
  • Drive company vehicle to transport supplies

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in culinary arts or combination of similar education/experience required
  • At least 3 years of cooking experience in a medium volume kitchen required – 5 years preferred
  • Experience or strong interest in learning additional leadership skills
  • Serv Safe Certification or ability to obtain upon hire required
  • Catering service experience highly preferred
  • Strong communication skills and/or experience working with vulnerable populations preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be authorized to drive
