About the Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity as a Psychologist Resident at the Children Farm Home in Corvalis, OR.
Job Summary:
Responsible for the provision of direct assessment/treatment and clinical consultation to any clinical programs operated in their assigned region by Trillium Family Services. This includes clinical supervision, as appropriate, training and providing expert advice, direction and consultation regarding admission, treatment, discharge decisions and mental health crisis situations. Provides direct psychological assessment services and group therapy services to clients. Also conducts assigned clinical quality review of clinical and case management services. Operates independently with minimal supervision. Work is reviewed by the outcome of situations and by meeting weekly with the assigned supervisor. Contacts are made with others both inside and outside the organization. Interactions involve persuasion, negotiations, explanations, counseling and advising with both staff and clients. Contacts are usually made on own initiative, and frequently contain confidential/sensitive information requiring discretion at all times. Position involves the potential for strenuous physical activity in providing clients with protective holds as needed.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
- Productivity- Accountable for time through documentation of service minutes relevant to psychological activity (i.e., psychological testing, scoring, interpretation, file review, report writing, client feedback, parent/guardian feedback, consultation to clinical teams, therapeutic groups, etc.); Productivity could include other projects as assigned that would not be documented in the medical record (e.g., staff trainings, root cause analysis, research into specific clinical topic, etc.), with productivity measure to be negotiated with supervisor.
- Quality of work – Produce high-quality psychological evaluations that respond to referring clinicians’ questions in practical and useful ways to help clients succeed in their goals; provide feedback to clients, their guardians and other community members that is understandable, helpful and accurate; advocates for and supports clients when appropriate; complete all clinical and other assigned tasks in ways that are consistent with the science and ethics of psychology as well as being useful to the agency and our clients and customers;
- Agency Policies – Adheres to agency’s policies and procedures;
- Supervision skills (if applicable) – Provides appropriate level of supervision to supervisees; meets with supervisee regularly; documents contact if needed; confronts supervisee about difficult topics when needed; provides support when appropriate; able to identify counter transference issues and help to resolve.
- Demonstrates self-awareness and emotional intelligence – Is able to identify and take steps to address emotional states that might interfere with work performance if left unaddressed (e.g., burnout, work dissatisfaction, stress, etc.)
- Respect - Treats everyone (clients, parents, co-workers, community partners) with respect, where respect is defined as treating others as if their thoughts, feelings, opinions, and goals are important, even if you don’t agree with them;
- Teamwork and collaboration – Uses effective conflict resolution strategies that solves problems while also maintaining effective work relationships; communicates effectively; helps teammates when appropriate but also able to set limits when appropriate; understands the various roles in a complex psychiatric residential treatment facility and how the various roles interact; seeks consultation when needed but able to work independently as needed; speaks up when there’s a concern but also able to hear others’ concerns; demonstrates flexibility when appropriate but also persistence when that is appropriate; able to admit when wrong;
About You:
- Education: Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree from an American Psychological Association (APA) approved clinical psychology or counseling psychology program, with focus on child/adolescent treatment.
- Experience: Two full years facilitating and consulting with interdisciplinary teams that treat children/adolescents/and their families.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Master’s level and Doctoral level interns as assigned. - Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current license or immediately pending license as a psychologist in the State of Oregon. Maintain a driving record acceptable by the agency and a current driver’s license for state of residence, when authorized to use own vehicle for agency business, employee must maintain personal insurance.
