Job Overview:


We are currently looking for an accountable Project Engineer to join Linde’s US Food Applications Engineering and Equipment team. The main objective of this position is to lead engineering and project management of food chilling and freezing projects. You will quote, schedule, plan, forecast, resource, inventory and manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project deliverables and quality from conception to completion. Close coordination between the customer, their contractors, OEMs and Linde will be vital to success.

The chosen candidate will work with limited supervision, receiving guidance and direction from the Lead Engineers. Position is in Burr Ridge, IL and has no direct reports. Ability to travel up to 30% required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Opportunities screening, sizing, customizing systems design to meet customer’s needs
  • Develop cost estimates and technical proposals for installation of freezing/chilling systems
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor assigned projects
  • Procure and monitor delivery for equipment and components within Linde’s scope of supply.
  • Conduct customer location surveys and complete utility estimates for the equipment application
  • Validate all designs meet internal and external safety standard and comply to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications
  • Interact daily with the clients to interpret their needs and represent them in the field
  • Manage inventory of equipment required to meet demand for assigned product lines
  • Perform initial startup, commissioning, and customer training of installed equipment
  • Work with customers’ contractors and OEM’s on project execution, utilities need, scheduling, installation and startup.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Chemical or Mechanical engineering or other related technical discipline required.
  • 5+ years of industrial engineering or project management experience required.
  • Demonstrated organizational, verbal/written communication, and problem solving/analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs across multiple organizational disciplines preferred.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while prioritizing issues and tasks.
  • Preference given to candidates with the following skills:
    • Experience in Allen Bradley control system design
    • Experience with food process & equipment
    • Experience with project management software preferred.
    • PMP Certification
