OVERVIEW:
The Department of Administrative and Financial Services (DAFS) Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides information technology support to over 13,000 employees. OIT oversees large scale enterprise applications that support the critical and diverse business needs of the State of Maine and its agencies. OIT is seeking a highly talented individual to join our technical teams that maintain and support a variety of applications for the business clients.

ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:
Applicants must have strong problem-solving skills and be able to interact with our end-user community. Although we are in a team environment it is expected that you will be able to work independently to trouble shoot issues. An ability to communicate complex technical issues effectively both verbally and in writing is also important. The position will be supporting Maine Revenue Services information systems.

This position is located in Augusta when not working remotely.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
This position will support the Department of Administrative and Financial Services and assigned agencies. Your job as a Programmer Analyst will be to work closely as part of the team that supports the Maine Revenue Services computer systems.
The position will be using Microsoft Visual Studio to develop Visual Basic .NET, and C# modules to support the annual tax law and tax return changes and ongoing system enhancements. These changes will include the coding to support data extraction from paper and electronically filed returns, custom code to support new processing rules, creating and updating taxpayer letters, data warehouse updates, and system interfaces with the IRS and other State agencies . The position will also be using SQL Server Management Studio to write SQL stored procedures and create database queries.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience).
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences or an equivalent industry certification -OR- an Associates Degree in Computer Information Science with 1 year application development experience -OR- 2 years application development experience
Preference will be given to candidates who display a high-level skill set in the following areas: Teamwork, Communication, Customer Service, and Problem-Solving Skills. Preference will also be given to candidates who submit both a resume and cover letter.
