The Kids Corner leader plans, organizes and leads activities for a group of grades 1-5 youth at Williston Fitness Center. Leaders will provide daily activities including sports, arts and crafts and a variety of games. Staff and kids will also go on one field trip per week. The summer season is June 12th to August 16th. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday during the day, 36-40 hours per week.

• Must attend staff training prior to June 13th. Date will be decided upon once staff are hired.
• Lead and supervise arts & crafts, swimming, group games, field trips and more
• Required to be physically active while on duty and participate in all group activities with the participants
• Enforce all policies, rules and regulations established by the Kid's Corner Coordinators, Program Manager and Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Services
• Ensure that safety precautions are taken in all activities
• Be familiar with and carry out emergency and accident procedures
• Set up and clean up activity area including building and grounds
• Supervise participants using positive discipline while maintaining an informal, orderly and safe atmosphere
• Must be available for entire season with limited time off
• Additional duties as assigned by Program Manager

Minimum Job Qualifications:

• A commitment to and belief in the organization's shared values
• Must be at least 16 years of age or older
• At least six months experience working or volunteering with children
• Some leadership experience with kids
• Creativity in developing and implementing recreational activity ideas for youth

Desired Job Qualifications:

• At least one year's experience working with youth
• At least 6 month's experience leading children in a variety of activities including physical activity, group games, arts & crafts, etc.
• High school degree or equivalent GED completed
• Completed coursework in elementary education, recreation or related field
