POSITION SUMMARY

This is a position for a before and after school program with kids ages 5-12. A program leader supports the program coordinator by developing curriculum and lead activities each day as well as supporting students in social and emotional development. We are looking for people who are reliable, flexible and can take initiative.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with children ages 5-12 in a before and after school program using PBIS. There’s an option to work on lesson planning between the two shifts for additional hours.
• Work with children in a 15:1 ratio, assisting with homework and structured group activities as well as supervising free choice and recess.
• Work with the program coordinator to develop and teach curriculum and lead activities for the classroom.
• Participate in team meetings
• Prepare the site for children
• Communicate with parents at drop off and pick up if they have any questions
• Become familiar with and adhere to licensing regulations for the program and school requirements
• Assist the program coordinator with turning in payments and paperwork to the main office and maintaining compliance with licensing rules
• Help the program coordinator with creating and maintaining behavior plans when needed
• Help to train new staff by coaching them through their first days
• Obtain 24 hours of training each licensing year and submit to ORO

EXPERIENCE

• 1 year of experience working with children
• Dedicated, reliable, organized with a strong interest in education and working with children
• Knowledge of child development for ages K-12
• Educational background or work experience in education preferred
• Experience writing and teaching curriculum

QUALIFICATIONS

• Have or able to get CPR/First Aid Certification, Food Handler’s Card (we can train in-house), and Oregon CBR number

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Reliable transportation
• Basic computer skills including knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Google Docs
