Description
This project management professional staff position requires an employee who is extremely experienced in Project Management tools and processes. Included but not limited to the ability to facilitate projects, lead chartering sessions, develop/validate network diagrams, lead integration and compression sessions. This staff position is a recognized expert within the workgroup, can function as a team lead, and works independently with minimal supervision.
Facilitate program and project workshops, plan development sessions, plan control meetings, and other project meetings independently. Understand and adhere to divisional and corporate governance processes (NPI, L-NPI, etc.).
This role collaborates with teams that span across the enterprise, including procurement, digital, engineering, information systems, and more.
Job Duties
Specific work assignments may be as follows: Plan and lead program and project planning sessions, as well as moderately complex projects such as NPI, CPI, and CPS. The incumbent will function independently in leading a large, diverse program or project planning session. Responsibilities also include preparation and pre-work for the session as well as follow-up and action ownership. The position will advise the leadership team and address leadership issues one-on-one with senior divisional and department management.
The developer will have the ability to adapt to diverse business climates. With the support of the Project Leader, the incumbent must be able to control the planning sessions – able to stop any sidebar conversations constructively, and they must be able to keep the team focused on the objectives. The incumbent will create accurate and detailed schedules.
Travel may be required for this position, including travel outside the US.
Job Duties
- Interpret & communicate Voice of the Customer (VOC), Voice of Business (VOB), and Critical Customer Requirements (CCR) to improve value delivery.
- Advise the leadership team and address leadership issues one-on-one with senior divisional and department management.
- Adapt coaching styles across diverse business climates.
- Plan and lead program and project planning sessions, as well as moderately complex projects.
- Facilitate projects, lead chartering sessions, develop/validate network diagrams, and lead integration and compression sessions.
- Preparation and pre-work for the session as well as follow-up and action ownership. The position will advise the leadership team and address leadership issues one-on-one with senior divisional and department management.
- Mentor, coach, and train other Program Coordinators, individual project managers, and project teams in program management processes and software.
- Team lead for the local team section, including individual one-on-ones, enhancing training, and budgetary responsibilities.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 9 + years of progressively responsible job-related experience in multiple business units, including project management responsibilities
Top Candidates will also have
- Project Management certificate (i.e., PMP, PRINCE2, etc.)
- Fully effective interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with project team issues, develop others, or influence others inside and outside the department to take specific actions
- Strong project management skills, team leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Professional training in leading and facilitating meetings
- Previous Black Belt experience

- The location for this position is IL-Mossville; however open to considering other Caterpillar facilities within the U.S. (candidate's permanent address must be within a 50-mile driving distance to a Caterpillar facility).
