Production Supervisors ensure all manufacturing lines run smoothly and efficiently by closely monitoring how employees organize their workflows. A Production Supervisor is integral, in a fast-paced production environment. A Production Supervisor oversees a company's production operations, by identifying, developing, and implementing programs, policies and procedures which support total customer satisfaction, both internally and externally, where applicable in relation to this position. The Production Supervisor will need to build and develop their team to consistently meet goals and be mutually successful. In most cases, Production Supervisors oversee a specific division but, in some cases, they can manage multiple operations.

Requirements, duties, and responsibilities to include, but not limited to

There are many duties for Production Supervisors, but the major one is to ensure the manufacturing process remains smooth and efficient by organizing workflows and monitoring staff. They direct, train, and assist lower-level manufacturing and production workers. More of their regular duties and responsibilities include:

• Setting production goals, and implementing and maintaining lean manufacturing principles
• Machine operation-Knowledge of manufacturing tools and equipment to optimize your team's productivity and performance
• Time Management-Managing time and identifying and eliminating process abnormality
• Understanding functions- Observing and analyzing the trends and/or tendencies in your metrics
• Leadership/Organization-Coaching and performing quality product and process audits
• Performing annual team member evaluations, counseling, and disciplining employees
• Interviewing and selecting new employees
• Enforcing safety policies and giving safety presentations

Additional requirements of the Production Supervisor include:

• Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
• Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds
• Ability to stand on your feet for 8 – 10 hours at a time
• Must be comfortable performing repetitive tasks using arms and hands).
• Must be able to work in a loud and fast paced environment, make good judgements, and provide assistance when necessary.
• Ability to communicate with co-workers and understand written instructions.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
• Must be able to read and understand the U.S. measurement system to 1/32 of an inch
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision,depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Education & Work Experience

One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Production experience required. Military experience value.
