Position Summary:

In this position, the Product manager will work with the Chief Product Officer, manufacturers and service providers to provide leading video and IP Network solutions. These efforts will include identifying and or designing video components, related hardware and integration efforts, including supporting communication IP networks and gateways. This position is responsible from product specifications through support to manage a portfolio of products and services that allow CPI Security Systems to lead the market in areas and industry in which it competes.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the entire product development life cycle - Writing specifications for the manufacturers and service provider engineering teams, testing new products and features, managing beta programs, developing product marketing materials, directing training content creation, technical documentation, support for existing products, best service practices and end of life transition strategies.
  • Assisting with go-to market strategy and launches for new products – facilitating product release with internal teams.
  • Conducting market research – Gathering feedback from customers, analyzing product landscape and making recommendations to Senior Management and manufacturers.
  • Measuring and ensuring that revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met by working closely with all areas of the company, including the operations, support, sales, and marketing teams
  • Working with operations, QA, Tech support, sales and customers to troubleshoot and resolve escalated product issues
  • Recommending and championing improvements to existing product lines
  • Establish product and service performance requirements for quality assurance of finished product or service
  • Contributes to maintain product and service roadmaps for portfolio management and planning efforts.
  • Creates and archives technical documents, drawings and solutions documentation
  • Assists the Marketing Team in trade show booth design, configuration and testing
  • Assists Operations in identifying required test and installation equipment for Installation and Service Technicians.
  • Assists Sales Teams in identifying, developing and maintaining demonstration capabilities, equipment and solutions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Must have knowledge and experience with Video solutions and capabilities including but not limited to solution architectures, video analytics, video monitoring and IP Networking.
  • Must be familiar with a variety of the Intrusion and Home Automation industries concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Must have general knowledge of electronics
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize experience and judgment to plan, prioritize and accomplish goals
  • Good communication skills to support manufacturer, associate and customer relations
  • Independent worker that is highly motivated, resourceful, self-starter with ability to deliver results
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a small, fast-paced environment
  • Passion for consumer technology and interest in developing a deep technical understanding of related technologies
  • Willingness to assist in variety of product related tasks (logistical, testing, troubleshooting, planning)
  • Ability to act as customer advocate in dynamic group environment while considering team's overall priorities and goals
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • General knowledge of business and/or finance
  • General knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies
  • Must be able to work in Charlotte office and travel as needed

Other Experience Required

  • 4 year degree
  • CCTV and or Networking Credentials or focused training preferred.
  • Experience in the following areas is a plus: Alarm system installation and service, User Interface design, web/mobile development, computer networking, IP video recording, cellular/wireless technology, home security systems, smart grid technology, home automation.
  • Knowledge of industry and ANSI standards
  • Supervisory and project management experience preferred
