Overview:
The global leader in automotive diagnostic equipment, Snap-on Diagnostics has an immediate opening for a Product Manager who will direct the overall strategic management and responsibility of full life cycle for designated diagnostics product lines. This includes managing the delivery of new product development projects on time, within budget and per customer expectations. Additionally, will be responsible for providing accurate product status reports to include financials, ownership of the Product Realization Cycle throughout the product development activity, and coordinating large projects with other business unit product managers. Managing and detailed oversight of the assigned Diagnostics products from concept to conclusion. Key responsibilities include: developing and maintaining product roadmaps that will lead to sustainable profitable growth, interfacing with shared services, key customers and overall financial performance of the business unit.
Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the full product life cycle (concept to end of life for assigned product lines and projects)
  • Learn and use product management tools for communication and project tracking
  • Creating, using and understanding use-case is required for every project
  • Act as the integrator between Product Management and the other functional groups within RSI
  • Work with other product line managers, as a team, to build and integrate an overall D&I & RSI product integration and flow
  • Overall responsibility of product, delivery and project budget goals
  • Work with Product Development Managers to resolve conflicts that could lead to an unsuccessful project completion
  • Work with Product Development Managers to develop solid project strategies to meet or exceed the business unit financial objectives
  • Responsible for communicating critical project status to all stakeholders
  • Oversight responsibility for end of life product strategies
  • Responsible for Global Product Management Support and oversight as well as directly responsible for North America
  • Establish global product standards and core foundations
  • Directly support and work with Regional Product Management to ensure global standards and continuity of product design
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or equivalent experience
  • Advanced Degree Preferred

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years related experience

Other Requirements:

  • In-depth understanding of vehicle systems and diagnostic repair strategies
  • In-depth understanding of diagnostic product line and state of the art technologies along with market needs and demands
  • Excellent product and project management skills and knowledge of PM techniques
  • Understanding of business and financial principles
  • Strong management skills
  • Leadership skills to work effectively in a matrix relationship with business units, engineering, product management, channel management, manufacturing, distribution etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communications and negotiation skills to accomplish goals within a matrix environment
  • Strong analytical and conceptual abilities
  • Strong financial management and analysis skill-sets
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be proactive and display a high level of initiative
  • Strong knowledge of customer needs/market desires. Strong understanding of product function and capabilities.
  • Able to analyze internal strengths and weaknesses as well as external opportunities and threats.
