Probate Paralegal – Independence, OH

The Darren Findling Law Firm, PLC, is a growing probate, estate planning, and elder law firm with offices in Michigan, Illinois, Florida, and Ohio.

Responsibilities:

· Managing a large and time-sensitive caseload from start to finish by utilizing a robust case management system.

· Drafting, filing, and serving pleadings, including motions, applications, orders, inventories, accounts, notices, and other probate-related pleadings.

· Analyzing and evaluating the status of cases to comport with requirements of the court.

· Reviewing motions, applications for completeness of supporting documentation prior to filing with court.

· Communicating with clients, courts, and counsel, including scheduling and confirming appointments and hearing dates.

· Take direct assignments from attorney and lead paralegal to timely file motions and follow-up with distribution to clients

· Scanning and filing documents. Monitoring and meeting deadlines

· Monitor local court rules for changes for each county in Ohio.

Requirements:

· Minimum of five (5) years of current paralegal experience.

· Experience working with a case management system.

· Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow-through

· Exceptional communication skills including writing skills.

· Adapts well to change and maintains a positive attitude under stress

· Ability to multitask and stay focused on the most important and urgent issues

· Results-oriented and assume a level of ownership in work product

· Proactive and thrives in a fast-paced environment

· Adoption of our core values

· Computer skills, including Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Adobe Acrobat, and Quickbooks.

· Ability to work overtime occasionally to meet deadlines

· Preferred candidates may also have experience with personal injury cases, probating deceased estates, trust estates, and handling guardianship matters.

· Submission of a writing sample will be requested.
