A postdoc position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Xiaojun Yu (SIT).
Background: Development of composite scaffolds for bone regeneration is an emerging research area. We seek a postdoctoral research associate for completion of tasks related to a funded grant.
Key Responsibilities: (1) Develop techniques to produce composite scaffolds via electrospinning and 3D printing for placement within appropriate animal models of bone injury. (2) Develop techniques to characterize the composite scaffolds. (3) Develop appropriate in vitro cell culture models to assess cellular response to the materials. (4) Learn and develop appropriate surgical, histology, and imaging techniques for analysis of biomaterial interactions with bone tissue. (5) Work with colleagues at SIT to develop collaborative projects of interest to the applicant. (6) Prepare documents for the dissemination of research findings at national meetings and/or publications in research journals.
Skills and Qualifications: Education Level: Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or Bone Biology (or appropriate discipline) with background in biomaterial development/characterization/cell culture and/or exposure to animal models of bone injury.
