Scope of Position
The Beverage Runners primary focus is to provide prompt, courteous and efficient beverage service in a luxury brand inspired hotel environment where attention to detail is key. The Beverage Runner will also possess a limitless desire to attain the highest levels of quality and cleanliness in all areas of the Food and Beverage Operations.
Position Requirements
- Professional demeanor appropriate for a restaurant environment.
- Previous food and beverage experience in a luxury hotel environment is a plus.
- Outstanding and professional guest services skills.
- Food Handling & TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) certificate will be required.
- Knowledge of food and wine is an asset.
- Basic computer knowledge (Micros or other POS systems).
- Must be of minimum legal age to serve alcohol according to state law.
Responsibilities
- Serve and deliver beverages and/or food items, napkins and other needed items to guests at the appropriate table or bar location and/or seat using a tray.
- Clean and reset service tables and side stations, including but not limited to stocking condiments, napkins, rolling small wares, preparing beverage service trays, checking back stock of supplies and requesting items needed to complete shift.
- Knowledge of restaurant layout and location of all equipment and supplies.
- Organizing and expediting beverage and/or food for timely and accurate delivery of prepared items. Garnish beverages.
- Picking up dirty glassware and/or plates and small wares and delivering them to the specified dishwashing area.
- Communicate with guests, other employees, or departments to ensure guest needs are met.
- Maintain cleanliness and condition of the work area.
- Assist as needed to maintain standards of appearance, sanitation and service in all areas of the restaurant.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
Education
- High school diploma or GED.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of basic food handling policies and procedures as well as the techniques and equipment for preparing and presenting food products for consumption, including storage/handling techniques, proper chemical handling, and sanitation standards.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
- Must be physically fit in order to lift, pull and push items up to 50 pounds.
- Also requires reaching overhead/standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
