Provide overall Line leadership of paper machine, on-line coaters, hot-soft calender, and winder operations including proper support from stock prep and coating. Establish personnel, technical, and process management direction to optimize performance in a team-based environment. Ensure implementation of action items to improve safety, product quality, productivity, product development, costs, training, housekeeping, maintenance, asset improvement, and employee engagement. Provide direction to area coordinators/OMC, engineers, supervisors, and crews.

- Build accountability and engagement while owning the Line’s integrated action plan (IAPs)
- Support the department safety team to build crew engagement and help facilitate crew-led safety plans
- Build the Line’s technical troubleshooting expertise (TCCs, training depth, checklists, etc.)
- Support the training and development efforts on the Line (OJT process)
- Maintain harmonious relations with Team Members by administering contract provisions and company policies
- Improve products to serve customers
- Support the Mill’s Quality System and monitor paper quality to ensure the products meet our customers’ needs
- Develop, lead, and coordinate the complaint feedback system and corrective & preventative actions
- Support new product development trials and coordinate trial efforts with the Product Development group
- Provide technical feasibility and guidance to the product development group on new projects
- Optimize processes to leverage the assets
- Reduce process variability through supporting the “KVA” system utilization and optimization
- Investigate new equipment or process changes that will improve operations in the long-term
- Coordinate capital planning for the Line looking out five years
- Support the core components of the Mill’s Reliability initiative, including tracking and preventing reliability events
- Help drive cost control and implement improvements to efficiently and economically use all resources
- Effectively work with suppliers and outside service groups to ensure highest levels of service and workmanship of the products and raw materials that we use
- Assist in standard and budget setting for annual and long-term plans
- Complete other projects and tasks as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in paper science, chemistry, or engineering
- Five plus years of supervisory experience in paper manufacturing operations such as an assistant production superintendent, OR
- Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Solid management, leadership, decision making, and communication skills
- Drive to produce results
- Possess ambulatory capabilities to move freely about the mill, ascend and descend ladders, and tolerate temperature extremes
- Ability and willingness to work beyond normal Mon-Fri schedule as necessary to fulfill position responsibilities, being on-call as needed and providing weekend, holiday, and evening coverage on a rotating basis (currently 1 in 7).
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong communication skills both written and oral clearly communicating procedures, trials, and process changes

WORK SCHEDULE: Normally Monday through Friday with weekend rotation. Work beyond normal schedule as necessary to fulfill position responsibilities.
