Job Description:
Leathers & Associates creates immersive and interactive experiences that transport children of all ages into fantastic realms of play and exploration. Spaceships, Dragons lairs, fantasy castles, and more are all possible from the creative minds of our little helpers.
The Playground Designer Associate is responsible for interpreting information from our clients to develop a one-of-a-kind playground design. Site information is gathered, including cultural and geographic features. Community and stakeholders will provide input, as well as group children’s sessions to allow imaginative input from the young minds of the area. Candidates must be self- motivated, imaginative, and have excellent communication and presentation skills.
We are looking for a creative individual with some building and construction knowledge. Must have a positive attitude and be able to work in a collaborative environment. The job requires unique skill sets and varying levels of experience.
Job Responsibilities:
- Working with communities/children to create fun inspiring playground designs unique to each community.
- Communicate with clients regarding the design process.
- Gather and interpret community needs.
- Work within fixed budgets provided by communities.
- Manage the design process from initial designs through the final design phases.
- Create 2D and 3D renderings of the final design.
- Perform all public-facing roles assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to lead and manage client meetings.
- Adaptable to changes in a fast-paced work environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- A minimum of an associate degree or trade degree in a related field. o Graphic designer, Landscape Architect, Architect Environment designer, background in
Art & Design
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, ability to multi-task, and strong attention to detail.
- Creative mind.

Work Environment:
- This position works primarily in an indoor office setting.
- This position may also have some outdoor exposure during special events and client visits.

Work Schedule:
- This is a full-time position with a fixed 40-hour work week but a flexible schedule. Some flexibility with remote work-from-home.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position does not require supervisory responsibility.
Travel:
- Travel may be required for this position when called upon to facilitate on-site client meetings to gather information for the project’s preliminary design.
- This is typically a single site visit per project if the client prefers an on-site visit vs a virtual consultation.
