JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Systems Analyst is responsible for planning, designing, developing, building, and maintaining pharmacy related systems and applications. The Analyst will ensure the integrity, integration, and stability of applications; lead system testing and documentation of system procedures; develop and lead trainings; provide go-live support; serve as a primary point of contact for on-going production maintenance/support and troubleshoot pharmacy clinical systems.
Job Specific:
- Builds, implements, and maintains various clinical documentation applications pertaining to pharmacy operations. (EF)
- Troubleshoots with vendors on applications and hardware to ensure operational efficiencies. (EF)
- Participates in all elements of ongoing maintenance and support including set-up, testing, security, and functionality of clinical applications that impact pharmacy operations. (EF)
- Ensures appropriate access to applications to approved providers and staff.
- Identify, develop, and present classroom, individual, computer-based, and written education for pharmacy applications. (EF)
- Collaborates with clinical department leaders and front-line “super users” of pharmacy applications to ensure optimal electronic health record (EHR) functionality. (EF)
- Learns new software, hardware, and other technical equipment as necessary for clinical support.
- Ensures information systems are consistent with professional standards of practice.
- Complies with applicable regulatory agency guidelines and federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Assists Pharmacy Director and clinical department leadership with determining resources (equipment, supplies, space, etc.) necessary to carry out the functions of clinical documentation and support.
- Creates and maintains medication dictionary and pricing. (EF)
- Assists Business Office personnel with resolving medication claim issues.
- Attends required orientations, department meetings, and in-services. Completes annual mandatory educational requirements as indicated.
- Maintains professional growth and development through attendance at approved seminars and workshops, participation in professional affiliations, and reviewing applicable and current literature.

- Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital’s Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
- Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
- Performs within professional Scope of Practice at all times.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Required: Associate Degree – Nursing, Licensed Vocational Nurse Diploma, or comparable experience in
- Pharmacy (technician)
- Clinical systems analysis
- Clinical information management
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Informatics or Information Sciences
EXPERIENCE
Required: Minimum of three (3) years Hospital Pharmacy Technician experience or minimum of two (2) years in clinical setting and/or hospital information systems; Experience with Pyxis software and hardware and Meditech
Preferred: Experience with various clinical applications, i.e. PCS, EDM, POM, EMR, PHA, T-system
Special Skills and Abilities:
Required: Communication and relationship skills necessary to collaborate with physicians, providers, senior leadership, and various hospital personnel; Computer literate: proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams; Strong analytical and organizational skills with proven ability to multi-task and handle multiple key priority projects at once; Availability for on-call / after-hours support
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Preferred: Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse; Meditech Certification
