- Screening and processing corrected plans and application materials.
- Helping customers and staff understand the land use permitting process.
- Working in a fast paced often changing environment where no two days are the same.
- Researching property records to determine the legally established use of property per the permit history.
- Screening, accepting, and processing shoreline and environmentally critical area exemptions, vegetation restoration plans, hazard tree removal requests and researching zoning history.
- Reconciling fees for applications and permit issuance.
- Screening and preparing final surveys for recording with King County.
- Proactively monitor progress of applications via electronic filters and troubleshoot discrepancies in data entries and application status.
- Assist applicants and public with questions regarding public notice status by email, phone, or Zendesk (our virtual customer service center).
- Provide excellent customer service online, in person, over the phone, and in writing.
- Remain productive, communicate successfully, and problem solve while working remotely and in the office.
- Take initiative to complete work in a timely manner and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Screen applications for completeness.
- Deal tactfully, courteously, and respectfully with a variety of people.
- Understand and a commit to actively support the City and Department goals in promoting racial equity and social justice.
- Being an active, positive, and contributing member on the team.
You will feel prepared to take on this role if you have experience:
- Providing excellent customer service
- Using technology to accurately enter and retrieve data using permitting technology,
- Researching property information, viewing properties using GIS and other mapping technology
- Prioritizing work effectively
- Screening and reviewing of plans and documents.
- Working collaboratively with a variety of people (individually or in a team).
- Producing accurate and quality work.
- Assessing permit fees based on the fee ordinance.
- Interpreting codes and ordinances.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The full salary range for this position is $35.74 - $41.66 per hour.
