SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The pediatrician under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) provides care in the disciplines of general pediatrics by planning and carrying out medical care programs for children, from birth to adulthood, to aid in mental and physical growth and development.

This position examines patients to determine presence of disease and to establish preventive health practices, prescribes and administers medications and immunizations, and performs a variety of medical duties.

The Pediatrician is committed to ensuring a positive patient experience and following PCMH guidelines and principles.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Examines patients to determine presence of disease and to establish preventive health practices.
• Works closely with the Chief Medical Director and other appropriate staff to identify, develop, and implement the pediatric comprehensive clinical services and preventive services.
• Assists the Chief Medical Officer in the evaluation and supervision of pediatric clinical staff.
• Participates in team and evidence-based approaches for pediatric care by providing appropriate patient education about illness, needed treatment, medications, and immunizations.
• Collaborates with the patient/family to develop and implement a written care plan for transitioning from pediatric care to adult care.
• Identifies patients for population management and care coordination.
• Provides consultation in Pediatrics as assigned by Chief Medical Officer to Physician Assistants and or Nurse Practitioners.
• Supervises medical assistants and lab personnel in area of specific support services for pediatric care delivery.
• Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement activities as assigned including peer review, provider meetings and pharmacy management.
• Completes medical encounters after each visit.
• Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by Chief Medical Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have a valid license to practice in Texas and experience working in a high-volume clinic environment.
• Board Certified
• Current PALS certification
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
• Must enjoy working in a multi-cultural environment
• Knowledge of professional and ethical standards of health care delivery
