Main Purpose of the Role:
To ensure smooth, timely and cost-effective operations of our vessels while working in the area of district with special focus on the operations and logistics in the WCSA, (Container and Car Carrier traffic).
Major Areas of Responsibility:
Responsible for Coordination of Operations and Logistics of all countries in Caribbean and Central America: with special focus on the “new” countries of Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia (incl. Bonaventura, Colombia) for Container and Car Carrier traffic.
Main Tasks:
Accountable for the timely and cost effective coordination of all cargo and vessel operation activities within the Caribbean and Central America (CCA) district
Accountable for the timely and cost effective coordination of all cargo and vessel operation activities within the Caribbean and Central America (CCA) district
Coordinates all vessel and port/terminal activities in district for ZIM vessels as well as partner and 3rd party vessels.
Ensures smooth and safe operations in accordance with defined service levels
Monitors schedules of all ZIM and 3rd party feeder vessels in the district.
Coordinates that schedules are maintained in view of cargo connections for transshipment (including 3rd party feeder providers).
Secures that schedules are available in the system for all services (ZIM, partner vessels, 3rd party feeder vessels)
Audits and approves vessel and marine related invoices from all port in view of contract terms
Backup support to other team members when they will be out on vacations or travel.
Monitors productivity levels in ports and complies reports per port
Monitors Break Bulk, Out of gauge and hazardous activity.
Collects reliable data in regards to port activity
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge and understanding of maritime operations and laws
- Strong analytical skills, budget planning, and project management
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a very diverse environment
- Minimum 4 year college or university – plus
- At least 4 years of related experience
- Strong operational background
- Contract management (contract interpretation) – plus
- Procurement experience – plus
- Dual language (English – Spanish) - plus
