Operations Director
The Role
The Operations Director will lead our Oklahoma City site with a revenue of ~ $80M, encompassing facilities, manufacturing, materials, quality, engineering, aftermarket activities for the brands produced and serve as its primary business leader. The key objective for this role is to drive teamwork, employee engagement, and to manage the operational aspects of the Oklahoma City site and business. Key responsibilities will include safety, manufacturing, and all operational aspects of the P&L, not including machine sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Leader of HSE, operations, product development, and people columns of the MPX business system for Oklahoma City.
- Assume personal responsibility for a safe and healthy workplace for all team members by actively participating in the leadership of plant safety programs and ensures adherence.
- Attain build-to-schedule and on-time-delivery targets.
- Lead Oklahoma City weekly review of scorecard and participate in monthly site pack reviews with the team and with MP group leadership team.
- Drive manufacturing performance in regards to efficiency, absorption, and cost-management in order to achieve margin targets.
- Manage supply chain teams in order to have properly managed inventories and on-time vendor delivery for aftermarkets and production needs.
- Ensure weekly, monthly, and quarterly communication as appropriate to staff and all team members throughout the year. Ensure the team knows our goals and our progress.
- Participate in SOP process to balance sales demand with production and to minimize excess inventory.
- Understand lean principles and process improvement; challenge the status quo; encourage team members to question existing methods, practices, and assumptions; support people in their efforts to try new things.
- Develop priorities with the right balance of short and long-term plans. Analyze data and metrics to identify key issues and relationships relevant to achieving long range goals and vision. Commit to a course of action to accomplish goals.
- Hold self and others accountable for measurable and cost-effective results; follow through on commitments; show dependability to successfully execute goals; organize and able to manage time effectively.
- Provide coaching and development of plant staff to ensure effective leadership, collaboration, and balance in achieving KPI’s.
- Identify and implement strategies to improve performance, meeting and exceeding plant Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- Matrix management of Oklahoma City engineering team (screens and feeders engineering).
- Coordinate with Finance on monthly forecasts and yearly budgeting.
- Must be fluent in financial statement interpretation and budgeting processes.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field
- Minimum of 10 years related work experience within manufacturing operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Success in direct and indirect people management, preferably across different functions and different geographies.
- Effective in strategic and tactical decision making.
- Comfortable around internal leadership and customers.
- Demonstrated knowledge/experience of operational key performance indicators, engineering effectiveness, labor & material efficiency.
- Demonstrated knowledge/experience with LEAN manufacturing and Strategy Deployment concepts.
- Ability to interpret and apply understanding of key financial indicators impacted by operations and logistics (i.e.. conversion costs, fixed overhead, productivity).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization.
The salary range for this position is $104,000.00 - $156,000.00.
