Job description
The University of Virginia (UVA) Department of Public Health Sciences (PHS) is currently seeking applications for an open rank faculty position in the Division of Biostatistics. This tenure eligible position will play a major roles in participating in collaborative research projects and in developing independent high-impact statistical research.
The successful candidate is expected to have experience in neuroscience research, particularly Alzheimer’s disease, and analysis methods for health equities / disparities research. In addition, the position will provide opportunities for developing his/her own high-impact statistical research. The successful applicant must be motivated, independent and highly organized, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Finally, the successful applicant will have administrative, teaching and service responsibilities, and be expected to participate in appropriate national and international organizations.

Minimum Requirements:
- Ph.D in biostatistics, statistics, or a related quantitative field
- A track record of or potential for high-impact methodologic or applied statistical research
- Experience with statistical analysis methods for neuroscience and/or health equities research a strong record of peer-reviewed publications
- Experience in the design and execution of early phase clinical trials
- Proven track record of or potential for extramural funding
- Teaching experience at the graduate level, with mentoring of trainees and junior faculty.
Preferred Requirements
- Active extramural funding for NIH or similar Federal programs
- Experience in statistical analysis methods in Alzheimer’s Disease Research
- Experience with observational studies
- A strong record of peer-reviewed publications in both statistical methods and collaborative research
