We are seeking an Okta IAM Engineer, The ideal candidate must understand both Okta configuration and how to use Okta effectively via APIs.


The Work Itself

IAM Engineering is tasked with understanding strategy/vision, designing, proving concepts, creating reference architectures, and fully documenting before handing off to Sustaining functions. They may be asked to present to stakeholders and/or demonstrate functionality to stakeholders outside of the Okta Engineering team.

Though this isn’t a Support role, the candidate may be called on to serve as a SME when solutions are initially rolled out (typically over a weekend) or when incidents occur after hours on occasion.

The Skills You Bring

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in IAM, with at least 3 years spent focused on Okta
  • General Okta knowledge using OIN or custom integrations for SSO and LCM
  • Okta APIs and sign-in widget
  • Work with custom OIDC or SAML apps (must work with business app developers to build Okta into their applications)
  • Understanding of LCM using SCIM/OPP
  • Have worked hands-on with key integrations like Workday, O365 and Salesforce
  • Advanced Okta infrastructure – including use of expressions, Org2Org, different types of hooks, Okta Workflows, OIE and Fastpass
  • Must understand how Okta integrates with Azure Active Directory and (equally importantly) the limitations between them
  • Have worked in-depth with one or more major cloud service providers such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
  • Must be comfortable delivering in an Agile environment, using Jira to track work

Nice to Have

  • Postman
  • Okta integration with ServiceNow and familiarity with ServiceNow APIs
  • Terraform (preferably the Okta provider)
  • PowerShell, UNIX shell or other scripting experience
  • Have worked in Financial Services for 2 years or more
  • Mobile applications development – Android, iOS, SWIFT (at least understand a mobile app development environment in what is required)
