Introduction
The Maryland Department of Agriculture is a department under Maryland's Executive Branch. Formed in 1972 by the Maryland General Assembly to address the agriculture needs for the State of Maryland, the Department oversees and serves as a regulatory body for animal health, consumer services to include marketing and lab services, plant and pest management and resource conservation. As the number one industry in Maryland, the diversity of agriculture programs in the State continues to expand and grow.
The State Chemist Section regulates the sale and distribution of products to enhance and promote agricultural production; protect consumers, animals, and the environment from unsafe products; and provide the regulated industry with a competitive marketplace. This position is limited to current permanent and contractual employees of the Maryland Department of Agriculture, and also to temporary employees from an external employment agency who are currently assigned to work at the Maryland Department of Agriculture.

POSITION DUTIES
The purpose of this position is to provide clerical, data entry, and troubleshooting duties for the State Chemist Section. The Office Clerk II is responsible for entering registrations that are received in the State Chemist office, pertinent to agricultural commodities.
Enters new product information and ensure renewal information is accurate. Determines if received fees match the number of products to be registered. Transfers the registration documents to the person who enters payments. Troubleshoots problems within Salesforce and makes corrections to the data.
Answers main telephone line and direct calls to the appropriate person and answer general questions, accordingly. Responds to phone calls, e-mails, and walks in customers in a positive and professional manner. Assist registrants with the Egov Portal regarding renewal questions.
Files all verified new product applications and renewals in designated folders. Remove older registrations from files and boxes them up, as part of the State Chemist document disposal responsibilities.
Other duties as required for the operation of the Program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of the eighth grade.
Experience: One year experience performing clerical duties in an office environment.
Notes:
1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for six months of the required experience.
3. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, data base, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical or Office Services specialty codes in the Clerical Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess any of the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
Experience working in Salesforce.
Experience performing clerical or administrative duties related to reviewing and processing information using Salesforce to include high-volume data entry.
Experience in customer service providing telephone support assisting clients with online transactions using Salesforce.LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
