Job description
The purpose of the Office and Logistics Manager is to manage all aspects of shipping into and out of the facility and to facilitate reporting and transmission of site data to the Portland office. The Office and Logistics Manager will oversee logistic processes and product delivery by tracking and reviewing invoices, shipment status, and delivery route activity. This position has one direct report, an Office and Logistics Assistant. This position reports to the Director of operations with a dotted line reporting structure to the Plant Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Participates in hiring process.
- Trains new employees in the company’s policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of assigned staff.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Actively works to develop staff in accordance with company policy and procedure.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees with HR in accordance with company policy.
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of trucking for all outbound loads.
- As necessary, book/manage trucking for inbound product.
- Negotiate (or renegotiate) pricing for trucking.
- Use DAT and other resources where appropriate to facilitate trucking.
- Track and communicate production activities/data with the Portland Office
- Coordinate with the Plant Manager to make sure product is available and custom shipping items are ready on time with respect to booked trucks (cases added to pallets, etc).
- Communicate with Plant Manager on any shipping issues (mis-ships, customer/warehouse-specific expectations etc.)
- Manage staged loads and communicate/facilitate between trucking companies and truck-loaders onsite.
Delegate where appropriate to the Office and Logistics Assistant
Requirements
- Prior relevant work experience of 5+ years in related leadership roles
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- Entrepreneurial spirit and an action orientation
- Ability to pursue, negotiate and persuade 3rd party trucking companies.
- Team mentality and consistent demonstration of that commitment
- Ability to delegate/empower as appropriate.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38,145.15 - $45,938.24 per year
