The Nurse Practitioner in the Waltham Pre-Operative Anesthesia Service, will be responsible for:
- Conducting patient/family interviews and documenting patient histories, psychosocial histories, health status, and medical problems or potential problems. When advanced medical assessment/triage is needed.
- Communicating necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of anesthesia to patients and families.
- Organizing patient approval representing Waltham Anesthesia Directors to nursing staff and surgical departments
- Offering expertise as consultant and educator to per-operative nursing staff
- Participating in or leading collection of data for anesthesia cancelations, criteria changes and improvement processes
- Ordering, scheduling, and/or performing laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures such as urinalyses, pregnancy, blood tests, and x-rays.
To qualify, you must have:
- A Master of Science in Nursing and certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner
- MA licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
- 5 year of nursing experience in pediatrics (inpatient or outpatient) preferred.
- New grad NPs will be considered (with 5 years of previous RN experience)
- Ability to work full-time (Monday to Friday).
Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
