ASRC Federal is seeking a Mission IT Support Specialist (Systems Administrator II) to join our NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center team. This position provides system configuration, management, and IT Security compliance support for mission critical workstations and servers used to support flight research in the Dryden Aeronautical Tracking Range (DATR).This role is located at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center on Edwards Air Force Base, near Palmdale/Lancaster, CA. As a part of this team, you will be required to work a 9/80 schedule with typical hours of 7:30am-5:00pm with occasional overtime, and potential travel, to support mission flight operations.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain existing Windows workstation and server systems, providing support for hardware (both vendor platforms and custom computer builds), operating systems, applications, and storage.
- Ensures all supported systems are maintained at the required security compliance levels for patches, vulnerability mitigations, and OS configurations under the US Government Configuration Baseline standards.
- Maintains inventory databases for supported systems and ensures regular review of database records.
- Researches and provides input into new systems and technologies to meet customer requirements.
- Performs system performance and integration testing to ensure system configurations meet project requirements.
- Develops and maintains all documentation (including baseline configurations, as well as Work Instructions/Processes) in support of systems to ensure continuity of support and compliance within the System Security Plans.
- Must be U.S. Citizen with the ability obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance
- Associates degree in technology related field with a minimum of 3 years of related work experience; 5 years of experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Experience performing systems administration tasks using Windows 10 LTS and Windows Server 2016 operating systems.
- Experience configuring and managing Cisco network switches.
- Experience with computer hardware and software troubleshooting methodologies.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to track multiple technical projects to completion.
- Demonstrated ability to give reasonable schedule estimates of work to be accomplished.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment including a computer and keyboard; vision to read printed materials, correspondence and a computer screen; Position may involve frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching and lifting (may range from 10-50lbs on a regular basis).
- Security + or CISSP preferred.
- Experience configuring and managing Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems and other IT appliances.
- Experience with security scanning tools including Symantec Virus Scanner, BigFix, and Nessus Security Center.
- Experience with configuring and utilizing system imaging tools including Microsoft Windows Deployment Server, Symantec Ghost, or Macrium Reflect.
- Experience managing virtualized machines running on VMware Workstation, ESXi, or Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization platforms.
- Experience managing Linux based systems in a secure environment and working with shell scripts.
- Familiarity with Active Directory accounts and object management tasks.
