Member Service Representative / Loan Interviewer II
Job description
SUMMARY:
Responsible for presenting and explaining credit union products and services to members and assisting them to utilize these products and services. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with prospective and current members as well as representing the credit union and its products in a positive and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Sells/cross sells products and services based on member needs in order to meet assigned goals.
- Processes financial transactions for members including such functions as opening and closing of accounts, issuing checks, processing deposits and withdrawals from accounts, issuing certificates, drafts and other negotiable instruments, opening and closing safe deposit boxes and IRA accounts, issuing ATM/debit cards and PIN numbers.
- Responds to routine member inquiries regarding the operation of accounts, access to services, account discrepancies, and assisting members with lost/stolen/forged items.
- Performs teller duties as needed.
- Verifies signature cards, initiates check orders.
- Verifies ATM/debit card maintenance forms.
- Provides general credit union information.
- Interviews members, completes credit applications, and makes recommendations for approvals/denials consistent with policy to Loan Officers.
- Processes loan application: Disbursement of loan, preparation and completion of related documents required for loan, packaging and mailing of packet.
- Advises members of approval or denial and processes loans or denials.
- Processes loan deferral requests, refers to appropriate approval level and advises member of decision.
- Assists in reaching credit union volume and insurance penetration goals.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of credit union's computer system for performing basic input/output tasks.
