Melt Deck Operator

Pay: $15+/hr.

Hours: Monday-Thursday 3AM-3PM

Job Description:

The Melt Deck Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the melt deck area, which includes charging and melting of metals, monitoring, and adjusting equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The Melt Deck Operator will work closely with other foundry personnel, including furnace operators, quality control personnel, and maintenance staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain melt deck equipment, including charging machines, induction furnaces, and pouring equipment Load raw materials into furnaces, ensuring proper quantities and mixing ratios Monitor and adjust melt deck equipment settings to ensure proper melting temperatures and metal flow rates Observe melt deck equipment during operation to detect malfunctions, adjust controls, or stop equipment and notify maintenance staff as necessary Ensure that melt deck area is kept clean and safe, and that all equipment is properly maintained and stored Perform routine maintenance and repairs on melt deck equipment as needed Record and maintain accurate production data, including material usage, melt times, and pouring quantities Work with other foundry personnel to ensure that production goals are met and that all quality control standards are followed Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations, and report any safety concerns or incidents to management immediately.

Qualifications:

Previous experience operating melt deck equipment in a foundry setting preferred Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions Good communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively as part of a team Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including overtime and weekends.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift and move heavy objects weighing up to 80 pounds Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and work in a hot and noisy environment Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators, as required.
